#BGSA2015 Raises Over $4.3 Million

May 6, 2015

San Antonio’s 24-hour period of #localgiving came to an end as the clock struck midnight. San Antonians contributed 39,357 gifts totaling an incredible $4,303,500.86 to local nonprofits in the San Antonio and surrounding areas. Pride Center San Antonio was excited to be a second-year participant.

Robert Salcido, execubiggive covertive board member with Pride Center San Antonio was hard at work monitoring the Big Give numbers and engaging people on social media to donate and participate. “Together we can build the Center to be the heart of the community. We need your help to be the premier resource center in South Texas for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions.” Salcido said, in one of the Center’s many Facebook and Twitter posts.

The Center had 34 unique donors this year with some offering notes of support along with their donation. “Thank you for all your hard work” and “Thanks for everything that you do” were among some of the messages received. The Center also received more personal notes, like, “My brother is gay and he is the best human being I have ever known… Keep up the good fight!”.

The Center exists to serve the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV communities by connecting them and their families to community resources and organizations related to health, wellness, support, education, activities, and advocacy. It’s through the support of our volunteer board members, volunteer community members and generous donors that we are able to offer the services we currently offer and expand into the central hub that the LGBTQ community so desperately needs in our beautiful city.

Thank you, San Antonio, through your generous, heart-filled donations we were able to raise $1380.50! We look forward to the Big Give 2016 where our goal will be $5,000.

Way to go San Antonio!
