COVID-19 Update from Our Executive Director

March 13, 2020

The Center prides itself on providing a safe space for the LGBTQ community in San Antonio. Protecting our community is our priority.

Because of the current cluster of COVID-19 cases impacting communities across the city, state and nation and the increasing call for social distancing, The Center will remain open in the immediate, however, we are suspending the following groups, events, and programs until further notice.

  • Tuesday Flow Yoga
  • Thursday Qigong
  • Men in Transition
  • Women in Transition
  • Q Connection
  • Coffee & Connection
  • Queer Voices Speak OUT
  • PRIDE Families: Spring Celebration & Egg Hunt
We have been closely monitoring and adhering to the recommendations made by the CDC, Texas Department of Health, Bexar County Department of Health, and the San Antonio Metropolitan Health Department. Please know, this decision was made after careful deliberation by our staff and board and is intended to protect our folks, particularly our most vulnerable community members.

In order to remain accessible as possible, and create space that doesn’t put people at risk, to include older adults, people living with HIV, anyone with chronic medical conditions, and immunocompromised folks to NOT visit during drop in hours. Those experiencing symptoms of either the flu or coronavirus please seek medical treatment immediately. Community members visiting The Center will be asked to complete a brief medical screening survey and a temperature check. The Center will be increasing its regular cleaning to ensure surfaces and spaces in the Center remain clean and sanitized.

Feeling like you want to help our community? Here are some things you can do:
  • Check-in on your friends.
  • Stay connected to folks who feel isolated.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Ensure that YOU are getting what you need to stay healthy.
The Center is here to serve the community and run support services to ensure the wellness of the greater San Antonio LGBTQ+ community. We plan to continue to do this work throughout any medical concerns within our community. Our community is resilient and strong. We will continue to thrive.
