2024 General election
Updates
Hello friends & community,
Today, as we process the results of the presidential election, we want to be direct about the challenges ahead while affirming our unwavering commitment to South Texas’s LGBTQ+ community. In times of uncertainty, Pride Center San Antonio stands as your steadfast advocate and safe harbor.
Our role has never been more critical. We understand many of you may be feeling vulnerable, concerned, or uncertain about what lies ahead. Know this: we have weathered challenging times before, and we will face these new challenges together, with strength and resilience.
Now, more than ever, we must:
- Strengthen our support services and crisis response capabilities
- Expand our legal advocacy resources
- Enhance security measures at our facilities
- Build stronger coalitions with allied organizations
- Provide expanded mental health support services
Your Pride Center isn’t going anywhere. In fact, we’re doubling down on our commitment to create spaces of belonging and empowerment for every member of our community.
But we need your help to fortify our work.
A donation today directly supports:
- Immediate crisis response services
- Enhanced security measures
- Legal support networks
- Mental health counseling
- Community building programs
Will you stand with us?
For those unable to donate at this time, our team will be in touch in the coming days and weeks with other ways to get involved and support your community during this time. With your help we can increase volunteer engagement, add additional social support programs, expand community outreach, and make sure that all LGBTQ+ Texans know that they matter, belong, and deserve access to support.
In the spirit of our work within this community, we would like to conclude this statement by providing the resources to help folks engage in self-care and safe political demonstration, should they feel so compelled. Please share these resources with others and reach out directly to The Center if you are in need of additional support.
Together, we are stronger than fear. Together, we will protect our progress and our community.
