Dear Community,
After 13 incredible years with Pride Center San Antonio, I’m writing to share with you that I will be stepping down from my position at the end of June. It has been an honor and a privilege to have been part of this remarkable journey, witnessing the transformation of our organization from its humble beginnings as an all-volunteer effort to the thriving agency it is today.
When I first joined Pride Center San Antonio, we were fueled by passion and commitment, but lacked the resources and infrastructure to fully realize our vision. Together, we have worked tirelessly to build a foundation that supports our community in ways we never thought possible. Through the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and supporters, we have expanded our programming, enhanced our services, and amplified our impact.
I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together. From providing vital resources and support to LGBTQ+ individuals and their families, to advocating for equality and inclusion in our community, Pride Center San Antonio has become a beacon of hope and empowerment for so many.
As I reflect on the past 13 years, I’ve had the honor of serving as a volunteer, past board chair, and as the Executive Director. I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to have been part of this journey. While I will be stepping down from my role as Executive Director, I am confident that the incredible team we have in place will continue to lead Pride Center San Antonio with the same passion and dedication that has defined our organization since its inception. I’m thrilled that my colleague, Lex Loro, our current Director of Community Health, will serve as our Interim Executive Director. Lex was Pride Center’s very first paid staff member and has been an instrumental leader in the Center’s growth to include our mental health services. We are currently in a transition phase for the next few weeks as we get Lex ready to step fully into the role and we will be sharing updates about this process as they become available.
I want to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who has supported me and Pride Center San Antonio throughout the years. Your unwavering commitment to our mission has made all the difference, and I am truly grateful for your partnership.
While my time as Executive Director may be coming to an end, my commitment to the LGBTQ+ community remains as strong as ever. I look forward to continuing to support Pride Center San Antonio in any way that I can, and to witnessing the continued growth and success of our organization in the years to come.
It would be an absolute pleasure if you joined us at this year’s Icon’s Brunch on June 9, 2024. I would love the opportunity to give as many hugs to you all as we celebrate the incredible work of the Pride Center. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this incredible journey.
With deepest gratitude,
Robert Salcido, Jr.
