Pride Center, San Antonio, TX, December 1st, 2022 – The Pride Center of San Antonio is announcing an expansion of care with free HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea testing. 

This announcement comes on World’s AIDS Day, an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease. 

“On this World AIDS Day, we are elated to begin offering at-home testing, for HIV and other STI’s, to further the awareness about disparities and barriers our community faces when trying to access testing, prevention, and ultimately being connected to care. Many initiatives currently exist, our offerings are just another opportunity to increase equitable access, improve disparities, and work towards ending HIV,” said Robert Salcido, Jr., Executive Director of The Center. 

Xavier Graves, Community Health Coordinator at The Center had this to say about the testing kits. “What’s different about our at home testing kits is it eliminates the often scary trip to a clinic that hinders some people from getting tested. This method removes another barrier to sexual health through discretion and adding another layer of privacy.”
